The Countdown is on! With April 15th 2021 the registration for a special Linzer running event starts: The 19. Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon brings their runners into motion in fall for the first and probably only time. Not only the anticipation to a chilly season can inspire our participants, for protection against cancellation, the preparations are made dual this year.

After the cancellation last year, caused by Corona, the organizers decided with their sponsors and partners to move the running event to fall, to October 23rd and 24th 2021. The organizers City Linz, OÖ Nachrichten and LIVA are happy to announce that the registration for the 19. Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon will open on April 15th 2021. In case of possible participant limits and other official restrictions in October, all registrations will be ranked chronical this year. This year´s motto, be fast, not only on the race course.

As every run is better than a halt, the organizing team plans in a second direction. Already worldwide tested, the implementation of running events as “virtual runs” – every runner chooses their favorite course at home und uploads their result to a joint participant list – has established as a goal oriented alternative with restricted contact possibilities, especially in the last 12 months. In the upcoming months the team plans with special care to implement the Live-event of Austria’s most favorite running event, but in case of a lockdown the participants can look forward to an exceptional sporty challenge anyway. As “service marathon” the Linz Marathon counts on the usual high level and over years developed quality features, finisher medal and starting package.

“The preparations for the re-start of Upper Austria´s biggest running event are on track, und we are looking forward to an unique event in fall, which not even the Marathon-city Linz has seen so far in such a format. I am happy that we can offer the fans of the Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon a fresh perspective to the annual event with new ideas and possibilities.” (Dr. Rainer Stadler, CEO LIVA)
