Oberbank made it possible to obligate Geoffrey Mutai as top runner for the upcoming Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon on April 15th 2018.

The Kenyan and former winner of World marathon majors competitions in Boston, New York and Berlin is going to be at the start at an Austrian running event for the first time. "This is great thing, to have such a great runner at the Linz Donau Marathon", says Oberbank CEO Franz Gasselsberger happily. Mutai´s best performance is 2:03:02 hours, which he ran at the Boston Marathon in 2011. With this performance he is the second fastest marathon runner in history and by far the fastest marathon runner who ever started at an Austrian marathon event.

To reach his target time at the Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon, Mutai has to run each kilometer in 3:01. The current course record is 2:07:33. "I am looking forward to this challenge at the Linz Donau Marathon - I have heard a lot of positive things about the event and the really fast course." says Geoffry Mutai, who happy to run in Linz.

So that Geoffry Mutai can reach this goal, the Linz Marathon organizers have obligated strong pacemakers and competitors. Additionally Elijah Kemboi, who´s best performance is 2:07:34 in Frankfurt 2013, is going to be at the start. "It is going to be an exciting fight for the win", predicts Linz Donau Marathon athlete-coordinator Günther Weidlinger.

Not only top athletes will be at the Linz Donau Marathon, in fact Upper Austria´s biggest mass sport event is a running event for all sporty people. Registrations for the Oberbank Marathon, Borealis Half Marathon, LINZ AG Quarter Marathon and TGW Relay Marathon, as well as for the OÖGKK Junior Marathon powered by Radio OÖ are accepted anytime.
