The preparations for Upper Austria's largest movement offensive are in full swing

The 20th Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon is casting its shadow. If you want to be up to date on October 23rd, lay the foundations for this in the coming weeks. Upper Austria's largest running festival is celebrating its anniversary this year, these dates should be marked in your calendar until the big day in autumn.

Getting in the mood for the kick-off:
A new date has now been found for the marathon kick-off event that was originally planned for June but was postponed due to illness. The popular event in the Linzer Oberbank's Donauforum will now take place on September 15th (6:30 p.m.). This year's speaker has a lot to tell again. He is known to viewers on domestic television as the number one political expert, but university professor Peter Filzmaier is also very familiar with running. His best time as a "hobby runner" over 10 kilometers is just under 33 minutes, the clock at the half marathon stopped at 1:12 hours, and the Viennese also finished two marathons. Against this background, Filzmaier is now telling his most beautiful running stories about Eliud Kipchoge & Co. in Linz - both analytically and passionately and from a refreshingly distanced fan perspective.

Free Running trainings: Those who don't want to just cover their kilometers alone during training are in good hands at the running clubs for the marathon. These have been very popular for years and have been held weekly on Saturdays since July. Organized by the LIVA, easy endurance runs are completed for the basics. Start is every second Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Parkbad/Arcotel. Austria's former marathon record holder Gerhard Hartmann then gets the runners moving with the main sponsor Oberbank on the other weekends. His interval training sessions start at 9 a.m. at Intertrading in Linz.

Entry deadline: August 19th and September 30th are the next significant dates up to which you can still register for the marathon competitions at more favorable conditions. Even on the running weekend itself, late entry is still possible as part of the marathon fair in the Tips Arena. "Experience has shown that early registration is mentally a good thing, because then you approach the matter with full focus and enthusiasm," says OC boss Günther Weidlinger. Running shoe test: You can only run really well with the right footwear. One day after the kick-off in the Oberbank in Linz, a big running shoe test with many well-known manufacturers will take place on September 16 (from 1 p.m.) in the Tips Arena.

Concert: You can also get in the mood for the event musically on the eve of the marathon. RnB/Soul/Pop singer Macy Gray is a guest at Posthof Linz. Tickets can be booked at a reduced price as part of the online registration for the marathon.
