A marathon in a class of its own
With a top-class field of participants, spectators can look forward to an exciting competition. The Linz Marathon 2025 promises thrilling duels, personal best performances and an unforgettable day of competition. The entire elite field this year will once again include a massive block of 20 runners and 5 pacemakers, led by Albert Kangogo from Kenya in the men's race and Flomena Cheyech Daniel, also from Kenya, in the women's race.
Albert, an experienced long-distance runner, has a personal best time of 2:07:48. In recent years, he has shown consistently strong performances: in 2024, he finished third at the Vienna Marathon in 2:10:44. The year before, Albert took an excellent fourth place at the Frankfurt Marathon with 2:08:10. He was already in top form in 2019 and ran his current best time at the Valencia Marathon. This year, the experienced athlete wants to build on his top performances again and is setting the pacemakers a target time of 2:08:00 over the Voestbrücke. Incidentally, his best half marathon time is an impressive 59:25. The experienced athlete Flomena also has an impressive record with a best time of 2:21:22. Her greatest successes include second place at the Enschede Marathon 2022 (2:23:53) and third place at the Paris Marathon 2017, where she ran her current best time. She has also impressed at world championships, finishing fourth at the 2017 World Marathon Championships in London in 2:27:21.
"The marathon in Linz offers both amateur runners and the international elite excellent course conditions. The great spectator backdrop will encourage the runners to perform at their best and make the marathon an unforgettable sporting event. I wish all participants every success!" (Karin Hörzing, Deputy Mayor, Sports Officer of the City of Linz)
