Kenyan Gladys Jerop Kimaina pulverizes previous course record from 2023 in a fabulous time of 2:24:58

19,514 participants made for a moving sports festival in Linz. With perfect running weather, a frenetic atmosphere, top times for the men and a new course record in the elite women's field, Linz was transformed into a vibrant running metropolis.

Linz, April 13, 2025 - The 23rd Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon once again lived up to its reputation as a fast spring marathon. In front of an impressive backdrop of thousands of enthusiastic spectators along the course, Amos Kiprotich Kiplagat (KEN) celebrated the third-best marathon time ever run in Linz in 2:07:58 and Gladys Jerop Kimaina (KEN) won the international elite races with a sensational new course record of 2:24:58. Gladys pulverized the record set in 2023 by Teclah Chebet (KEN 2:27:18) in a new fabulous time. With 1,682 runners, the marathon competition itself had more participants than ever before in the premier discipline. The voest highway bridge once again became a sporting hotspot and the finish line on the main square a stage for great emotions.

State championship honors with top times
The Austrian state championships were once again held in Linz as part of the marathon. Cornelia Stöckl Moser from Sportclub Leogang took the women's title in 2:46:13, while Mario Bauernfeind from the ÖBV Pro Team secured the men's national title in an impressive 2:23:41. The times once again underlined the high standard on the fast Linz course, which was once again the venue for the national championships.

"The Linz Marathon is the sporting highlight of the year for me - as mayor, but also as an active participant. This energy, this atmosphere, this joy of movement - that's pure Linz!" said Diemar Prammer, who took part in the marathon as a relay runner with a dedicated team.
