The 23rd Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon will be held on April 12 and 13, 2025, with nine main events, three starting arcs and four additional classifications, festivities and celebrations around all race courses and once again in line with the criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel. After completing all preparations, the organizers LIVA, OÖ. Nachrichten and the City of Linz are looking forward to a top-class race weekend in Linz.
Pre-registration for the 23rd Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon is now closed. As of today, just over 19,000 entries have been received, which is a very pleasing continuation of the strongest years 2018/2019. The supreme discipline of the marathon over 42.195 km even set a new participation record this year with 1,667 entries!
Elite field of men and women
The Linz Marathon 2025 promises to be a spectacular race with a top-class line-up in the elite field. Top international athletes from Kenya, Austria, Slovenia and the USA will be competing in the Upper Austrian capital to secure victory and set new best times.
With numerous strong performances in recent years, many of the participants have already enjoyed international success and will be doing their utmost to be among the front runners at the Linz Marathon. In addition to the coveted victory in the elite race and thus winning the unique trophy, the Linz Marathon 2025 is also about the individual and team state championship titles as well as 7 national championship titles. This year's elite field will once again include a massive block of 21 runners and 5 pacemakers, led by Albert Kangogo from Kenya with a personal best of 2:07:48 in the men's race and Flomena Cheyech Daniel, also from Kenya, with a personal best of 2:21:22 in the women's race.
With this high-caliber field of participants, spectators can look forward to an exciting competition. The Linz Marathon 2025 promises thrilling duels, personal bests and an unforgettable day of competition. "I'm looking forward to a great marathon race in Linz on April 13. In addition to the runners in the elite field, we can once again provide the stage for the state and national championships. The race at the front will definitely be exciting. Our current course records are already very strong, but I'm looking forward to trying to beat these times." (Günther Weidlinger, Sports Director and Race Director Linz Marathon)
Green Event certification also achieved in 2025!
In the past, the Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon has also focused on the responsible use of resources and the consideration of environmental protection aspects. Since last year, the entire organization has been subject to even more intensive sustainability checks and professional support. After 2024, this year's event has once again been certified according to the criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel for Green Events. The marathon sponsors and partner companies played a big part in this success - thank you very much!
"Running is my passion, the Linz Marathon is my highlight! The unique atmosphere, the enthusiastic spectators and the perfect organization make it an unforgettable running and city festival every year!" (Dietmar Prammer, Mayor of the City of Linz)
