Helpers wanted - without them nothing would run at all at the Linz Marathon

At Upper Austria's largest running festival, people can lend a hand in many areas.

Running is not the only way to be active at the Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon. This year, Upper Austria's largest running event will once again need many supporting hands behind the scenes. When it takes place on October 22 and 23, some 450 volunteers will be on hand. "A major event of this kind can only function with the support of many hard-working supporters in the background," says OC boss Günther Weidlinger. This is also confirmed by his colleague Julia Kitzmüller: "There are many activities where we can use helpers." Whether it is for filling the starter bags, handing out the start numbers or looking after the refreshment stations and relay changeover zones, supporters are needed everywhere. They are the ones who make sure everything runs smoothly.

"For me, it's nice when we can contribute a little bit behind the scenes to the success of the many runners. Even more, I always look forward to seeing the many helpers again every year. Everyone pitches in and creates something great together," says long-time volunteer Katharina Gahleitner.

Everyone puts their heart and soul into the task. "The best part is that we fully experience the emotions of the participants when they cross the finish line and are totally happy," Helene and Katharina Gahleitner describe their experience. "You can only have a big grin on your face yourself." There will also be a special thank-you party for everyone again after the marathon.

Anyone interested in becoming part of the Linz Marathon family of helpers can register via e-mail at linzmarathon@liva.linz.at or by phone at 0732 / 603412.
