New goal in Linz: 5000 meters!

Up to now the LINZ AG quarter marathon of about ten kilometers was the short program in Linz. In order to improve the "run-fun balance", participation in the marathon Sunday is possible for the first time this year with the Generali 5K over exactly 5000 meters. For newcomers to the world of running, this "eighth marathon" is certainly long enough. In addition, the "Teens", who have so far competed in the junior events on Saturday, will find a new challenge from now on. The precisely measured course with the start on Untere Donaulände, past the Brucknerhaus Linz, along Gruberstrasse to the ORF Upper Austria regional studio, on to the Linz Landestheater, around the Volksgarten and along Landstrasse to the finish on Linz's main square is flat and brisk in typical Linz fashion and a welcome addition to the existing program.

Generali Versicherung Österreich, a reliable and committed partner of the Linz Danube Marathon for many years, has been won as the name patron. Alexander Henk, Regional Manager for Upper Austria and Salzburg: "The Linz Marathon offers the Generali 5K as an ideal opportunity for motivated beginners to take part in one of Austria's biggest running events. For Generali, the commitment to the Linz Marathon is a successful synergy with our values and principles: We want to promote health and awareness of a balanced lifestyle through exercise. I wish all participants a great running experience! We are all about you."

The start time for the Generali 5K will be set at 9:30 a.m., parallel to the start of the marathon, so participants will have full and sole attention at the finish line on Linz's Hauptplatz. The full marathon service will also be offered, including a finishing medal, refreshments in the finish area, and the clothes bag service in the immediate vicinity of the start at the Brucknerhaus Linz.

Current services for teams

This year, companies and clubs will again have the option of registering via a collective registration account with the payment method "invoice". In the past years, the collective collection of all starting documents for large groups on the marathon weekend has proven itself, the service is gladly and well booked. The organization team is pleased to be able to support company health promotion with this individual offer!

As an attractive innovation, all companies, clubs and fan clubs can be offered customizable functional T-shirts for the first time this year. The basis for this is the official Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon T-Shirt 2024 from ERIMA, but with an additional 300 cm² of logo or lettering size available for free use. Small quantities are already possible, the price per T-shirt including printing is € 21. Orders immediately possible with Intersport Winninger, linz@winninger.co.at or Tel. 0676 / 62 76 802.

Environmentally conscious and in honor of Anton Bruckner: The symphony of running!

Upper Austria was Anton Bruckner's home. He was born in Ansfelden in 1824, musically socialized, encouraged and educated in the monastery of the neighboring town of St. Florian. In Linz he developed into an acclaimed organ improviser and a composer with an unmistakable tonal language. It is here that his music is heard today in the renowned concert hall that bears his name, here that it is played by the orchestra named after him, and here that it is taught and researched by a university whose namesake he is. His round birthday in 2024 is a welcome occasion to jointly present Upper Austrian culture in all its diversity, which will find expression in numerous projects centered around Bruckner, in squares and places, in villages and towns, everywhere in Upper Austria.

Not only the Brucknerhaus Linz, the "time culture temple" Posthof at the harbor and the children's cultural center Kuddelmuddel in the city center are participating in the program for Anton Bruckner's 200th birthday, but also LIVA Sport and thus the Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon! In 2024, the running festival with heart and family feeling will present itself from its best side: organized for the first time according to the strict criteria of the Austrian Eco-Label for Green Events and organized in honor of Upper Austria's world-class composer - with a musical Bruckner Mile as pacesetter on the way to the next record. In the middle of the marathon "stronghold" and Upper Austrian capital Linz, a new symphony will also be created in 2024. One of running, dedicated to Anton Bruckner and his work. The Anton Bruckner running course with start at the Brucknerhaus Linz and finish at the Old Cathedral! The ceremonial opening of the 1st Anton Bruckner Run will take place on September 15, 2024 - as an enjoyable run for all sports enthusiasts. Following the competition, the running course will be handed over to the public as a unique, free-to-use, permanent "symphony of running". Early decided runners:inside and Brucknerfans can register already starting from 15 September under time2win.at/event/498 for this special run.

"2024 will be an enormously exciting year for such a broad-based cultural and sports organizer as LIVA, with numerous offerings for both our regular and new audiences. At the Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon, we will even succeed in introducing another innovation that has long been indispensable today. In addition to the 5000-meter event, which is particularly attractive for health-conscious running beginners, we have done our 'homework' in respectful environmentally friendly organization and keep our footprint as small as possible in the sense of the Austrian Eco-Label.
