Rolling events at the Linz Marathon

The Linz Runners' Festival gets many rolling

Inline skaters and hand cyclists will be unhindered at the Linz Marathon Weekend

The red carpet will be rolled out for running athletes at the big marathon weekend in Linz on October 22nd and 23rd. But inline skaters and handcyclists will also be offered a truly unique stage. "It's a top-organized event, the start on a highway bridge is truly unique and it's inclusion in action," says Walter Ablinger, a two-time Paralympics winner on a handbike and a frequent participant in Linz. This year, like many other fellow athletes, the parade athlete from RSC heindl Upper Austria will once again use the power of his hands to set the pace on the 21.1 kilometers.

"Still competing at 80"
The man from the Innviertel region already made people sit up and take notice with a statement last year before his departure for the Paralympics in Tokyo. "Once I have stopped competitive sports, I will continue to compete in Linz. I'd still like to do that when I'm 80, that's my biggest goal," Ablinger said there.

Erwin Roither, managing director of handbike competition sponsor Ascendor Lifttechnik, is also already looking forward to the fast-paced race in the state capital. "The performance of the disabled athletes cannot be appreciated highly enough."

The Fischer Brot company is not only supplying the usual nutritious and tried-and-tested Marathon Weckerl, but is also giving the inline skaters slipstream with its support. "The Linz Danube Marathon has been the sporting event in Upper Austria for many years. For us as a Linz family business, it is a matter of course and an honor to support the event with our Weckerl on the one hand and to participate in the running events on the other. True to our motto: sporty, fair, familiar," says Managing Director Stefan Huemer.
