Sustainability at the Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon

In 2024, the aim is to organize the competitions of the Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon according to the criteria of the Austrian Eco-Label for Green Events.

The Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon has always paid special attention to the responsible use of resources and environmental protection aspects. Since last year, all areas of the organization have also been professionally monitored and continuously examined for sustainability. As an interim result, many aspects will already be noticeably rethought for participants in 2023. In 2024, the aim is to organize the competitions according to the criteria of the Austrian Eco-Label for Green Events.

In cooperation with Kampits Veranstaltungsmanagement GmbH, an Austrian specialist for Green Event certification, a transparent roadmap with binding action plans is currently being drawn up. Ongoing improvements and partial results can be viewed on a daily basis on the Linz Marathon homepage www.linzmarathon.at.

"In a time of climate change and constantly rising energy prices, all event organizers are called upon to respond to the changes in society. It is our task to anchor an awareness of care in dealing with the environment in society. Green Event certification of such an important sporting event as the Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon sends out a signal that entertainment and exercise are also possible with consideration for the environment. It's not about restrictions, but about the moderate use of resources and keeping the fun at events going in an intact environment" (Gerhard Kampits).
