Good preparation is the be-all and end-all.

Lactate tests, training plans and running meetings are helpful.

The preparation must be varied

A mixture of special endurance training and muscle strengthening units is important. The rule here is: volume before intensity. In other words, more long, easy endurance runs than short, intensive tempo runs. Because training is not a competition, runners should stick to the training plan.

Our offer for a good preparation includes training plans, lactate tests and running meetings.

Training plan

As a special service, training plans for marathons, half marathons and quarter marathons are being offered this year in cooperation with the Austrian Endurance Center led by sports physician Ronald Ecker and sports scientist Alex Unger in preparation for the Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon. Plans for beginners, advanced runners and ambitious competitors are available to download via an app.

Why should I choose a training plan?

  • A training plan for a run is crucial for increasing fitness and preparing for the race.

  • The three-phase structure of Base (8 weeks to build endurance), Build (8 weeks of increasing speed and strength) and Peak (8 weeks of optimizing race performance) ensures a gradual and effective increase in performance.

  • Each phase builds on the previous one to minimize injuries and to be in top shape for the race at the right time.

  • It is also possible to continue in the build or Peak phase, but we recommend all 3 phases to reach your full potential.

The optimal preparation includes the 3x 8 week plans until the 22nd Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon on April 7, 2024. Of course, it is also possible to download a training plan at any time and start with the targeted training according to the plan.

Lactate test

Also in cooperation with the Endurance Center Upper Austria we can offer two lactate tests in preparation for the Linz Marathon. A professional performance diagnostics to optimally adjust the training.

The first lactate test will take place on November 11, 2023 at the Donaulände.
The second date will be held in the TipsArena and is scheduled for February 16, 204.
