Our Marathon Kick Off event with Peter Filzmaier, planned for June and postponed due to illness, will now be made up for on September 15th 2022.
Univ.-Prof. Dr. Peter Filzmaier is a hug sports fan and his childhood dream was to become a sports reporter. Spain´s soccer players, Austria´s skiers or Norway´s cross country skiers and America´s tennis players – they all let his heart beat faster. At the Kick Off Event for the Linzer jubilee run in 2022, Filzmair wants to share his passion with all running sport fans.
At the Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon, Peter Filzmaier fulfills a boyhood dream and has been commentating live on ORF since 2021. His former best time as a hobby runner over 10 kilometers is just under 33 minutes, the half marathon best time is 1 hour and 12 minutes. In addition, he is a "finisher" of two marathons, but has "failed miserably" with his attempts at a really fast marathon time, according to a critical self-description. Against this background, Austria's number 1 TV political expert tells his best running stories of Eliud Kipchoge & Co - both analytically and passionately and from a refreshingly detached fan perspective.
"Running is the most beautiful sport because all of us have done it before. Almost anyone can just start running. At the kick-off event, I would like to address a bit of the social significance of running, but above all tell my most beautiful running stories, from my own experiences to African miracle runners. Maybe I can even motivate some runners additionally to start in Linz." (Peter Filzmaier)
