Kick Off

The Linz Marathon season is traditionally launched with the kick-off event in January.

Big names and real emotions at the sports talk with Simon Boch, Domenika Mayer, Mario Bauernfeind and Jennifer Burs live on January 23, 2026 at the Oberbank Donau Forum Linz!

Simon Boch (D) - Linz Marathon 2023 winner in personal best time (2:09:25), multiple German champion and European Championship silver medalist in the 2022 team

Boch stands for analytical training, passion and modesty - a combination that makes him a very likeable runner. His attention to detail and focus on continuous development are a real role model for anyone who wants to push their own limits. At the kick-off in Linz, he will address the topics of tactics and the balance between joie de vivre and sacrifice. How much does the mind play a part in success, what difference do enthusiastic spectators make and how emotional was the finish in Linz on the main square in 2023?

Domenika Mayer (D) - multiple German champion, 2024 Olympic participant, best time 2:23:47, 2nd place at the Linz Marathon 2023

Domenika Mayer is more than an exceptional athlete - she is a mother of two young daughters, CEO of her everyday life and role model for many women who live between family and performance. Her path is characterized by mental strength, determination and an extraordinary love of sport. "The run through Linz touched me deeply - the atmosphere, the people! Here you can feel why you run," she says looking back.

Mario Bauernfeind (A) - 2025 marathon national champion in Linz, best time 2:12:49, multiple national medal winner

Mario has already shown several times in Linz that home, the public and the will to perform can form a magical combination. Bauernfeind is a police officer in Vienna and has shown that a career and performance-oriented sport can go hand in hand. His performances in Linz were not just races, the runs were well planned. He stands for the fact that endurance is more than physical strength - it is belief, attitude and unbridled will.

Jennifer Burs (A) - Influencer, entrepreneur, founder of the "How Was Your Day Club"

What makes the voice of a new generation of runners special? Her authentic approach to sport, motivation and mental health. With her open, honest manner, she inspires thousands of people to get out, move and listen to themselves. Jennifer shows that running is more than just training - it's a way of life. At the information evening, she talks about how she found strength through sport, how community becomes motivation and why the Linz running community is a real role model for her.

In addition to the sports talk, guests can expect fresh updates on the preparations for the Linz Marathon 2026 - from organizational innovations and highlights of the course to insider tips for runners of all levels. The OC team is looking forward to many visitors!

Sustainability in motion - kick-off as a green event

The Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon continues to set a strong example for sustainability and environmental protection. In 2024 and 2025, the kick-off event was already successfully certified as a green event according to the criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel.

We will remain true to this path in 2026: The kick-off event at the Oberbank Donau Forum will once again be held as a green event in cooperation with the Upper Austrian Climate Alliance and marks the starting signal for another sustainable marathon year!

Arrival and departure

An active contribution can be made with a climate-friendly arrival and departure. The Oberbank Donau Forum can be reached from the streetcar stop "Hauptplatz", as well as the bus stops "Museumsstraße" or "Brucknerhaus" within approx. 10 minutes on foot.

All streetcar lines will take you from Linz main station to Linz main square.
