Generali 5K, Run & Fun: Until now, the quarter marathon of around ten kilometers was the short program in Linz. To improve the "run-fun balance", it is now possible to start the marathon Sunday already with the five-kilometer run. This "eighth marathon" is long enough for newcomers. The course is Linz-typical flat & brisk, as for the unique atmosphere at the finish line on the main square, even runners on the shortest distance get the full marathon dose.

Registration

Online registration is possible at any time HERE .
Information about the contingent prices can be found HERE.
The official registration confirmation will be sent approx. 10 days before the event exclusively by e-mail. You will receive your start number in the course of the Linz Marathon Sports Fair only upon presentation of the registration confirmation!!! You can also assign another person to pick up your race number, but only upon presentation of the registration confirmation.

Exchange of participants

Participants can be exchanged for a fee; a processing fee of € 10 will be charged. (Except FIX price packages until March 18, 2027)

Change of rating

A downgrade is possible free of charge, the difference will not be refunded. In the event of an upgrade, the difference will be offset against the current contingent price. (Except for FIX price packages until March 18, 2027 within the booked contingent).

After March 18, 2027, there will be a €10 processing fee for all changes (rating changes and participant exchanges).

Participant exchanges and rating changes can be carried out independently via the profile.

Relay starters can finish the half or marathon.
The prerequisite for this is registration in both events: relay marathon and half or marathon.
All race numbers must also be worn during the race. The timing chip is attached to the back of the race number.

Organizational

You can make change requests (typing errors) yourself in your profile. Please send typing errors in your name to linzmarathon@liva.linz.at.

There is a charge for swapping participants and this can also be done via the profile.

A rating change can be carried out independently via the profile. In the event of a downgrade, the difference will not be refunded; in the event of an upgrade, the difference will be charged at the current contingent price. After March 18, 2027, an additional processing fee of € 10 will be charged.

Once you have registered, it is no longer possible to cancel your starting place.

It is possible to exchange participants. A participant exchange can be carried out independently in the profile for a processing fee of €10.

A transfer of the registration to the next year is only possible once and a fee of €30.00 will be charged.

The race number distribution will take place on and in the TipsArena Linz.

There will be no starting documents on Sunday, April 11, 2027!

The starting documents can also be picked up by another person. The person must show the registration confirmation.

A postal delivery in advance is not possible due to the live start number printing in the TipsArena.

On the marathon weekend, you will find an info point at the sports fair and starting document distribution point. You will receive information on how to get there, traffic, parking, refreshment points, hot spots and much more.

A fee of €1 (net) will be charged per participant.

Before the race

Your start number is valid on the day of the event, Sunday, April 11, 2027, as a ticket for free use of public transportation in Linz. Detailed information about the shuttle buses can be found HERE.
The path to the start is the perfect route to warm up for the start. The Donaulände in the area of the Voest Bridge is just as suitable.

The start for the quarter marathon, relay marathon and marathon is on the Linz highway bridge (VOEST bridge), in the direction of Vienna! The half marathon competitions start on the roadway, in the direction of Urfahr, Freistadt, about 230m ahead on the bridge.

The start for the 5K is on the Untere Donaulände, approximately at the level of Lentos

Please make sure that you arrive at the start in good time to avoid hectic, stress and nervousness. (approx. 15-20 minutes walk from Linz's main square). There is enough space for spectators.

The finish line for the running events - quarter marathon, 5K, relay marathon, half marathon and marathon - is located in the heart of Linz, the Linzer Hauptplatz.
For safety reasons, the finish line for hand cyclists and inline skaters is located at the Phönix Theater in Wiener Straße.

During the race

There are refreshment points along the route and at the finish. There is a refreshment point approximately every 5km. For the marathon distance there are therefore 9 refreshment points along the route. Information about the refreshment points can be found here:

Aid stations

Please note that accompanying participants by bicycle or other assistive device is not permitted and will result in the participant's disqualification.
No baby strollers, walking sticks, or other objects are allowed on the run course
either.

Exclusively for marathon runners: You can't miss the pacemakers! Every finish line runner standing in the respective starting blocks is marked with a corresponding flag and printed finish time. The pacemakers will be presented on the action stage as part of the sports fair on Saturday, April 10, 2027. There will be plenty of finish times available, as the period ranges from three hours to a running time of 4:45 hours, with intervals of 15 minutes.

Pacemaker

Please go to the start only if you are healthy and in good condition. There is medical catering provided near each aid station. Medical catering at the finish will be provided by the Red Cross.
Headphones are allowed for all participants during the run, but you will miss out on the unique atmosphere of the Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon. Please make sure that you do not obstruct other runners during the race.

All competitions are timed using a tag (chip timing in the start number). The tag is attached to the back of your race number and must not be bent.

The use of ChampionChips or other timing chips is not possible.

80 mobile WC boxes from Pipibox will be positioned along the track.
Self-catering can only be handed in at the sports fair on Friday and Saturday when the starting documents are handed out. At the refreshment points, self-catering is located on the 2nd table on the right in the direction of the run. Please ensure that you mark your own catering yourself.

Once you have reached the finish at the main square, you will receive your finisher's medal and will be taken directly to the finish area.
It is not possible to return to the finish area from the refreshment area! Only participants are allowed in the finish and refreshment area. Please arrange meeting points with your family, friends and acquaintances or other participants outside the restricted areas.
Finish time for the running events is at 15:30.
Finish time for the rolling events is at 09:30.

Yes, on the day of the marathon, the fastest 3 women and men in the respective events will be honored on the stage on the main square (relay teams only first place). The exact schedule will be announced on our website in good time.

In the marathon national championships, the fastest 6 women and men, as well as teams, will be honored on the main stage. The Masters and National Championship award ceremony will take place on the day of the event in the Old Town Hall.

For organizational reasons, there will be a separate award ceremony in the Old Town Hall for the "School Runs" and "Fire Brigade Runs" events, as well as for the city championships. The date will be announced to the honorees after the marathon.

Every participant, whether an inline skater, handcyclist, junior marathoner, 5K, quarter marathoner, relay marathoner, half marathoner or marathoner, who reaches the finish line will receive a finisher medal. A certificate can be downloaded and printed online after the 25. Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon.

Showers are available free of charge at the Parkbad Linz, Untere Donaulände 11 (next to the Brucknerhaus clothes bag drop-off point) on presentation of the race number.
The clothes bag drop-off takes place from 07:00 at the Brucknerhaus Linz. (Untere Donaulände 7)
All items that are found will be delivered to the Linz Marathon Office, Ziegeleistraße 76, 4020 Linz after the marathon. In case of lost items, please contact our office as soon as possible at 0732 65 73 11 4100, MO - DO 8:00 - 12:00.
The items will be kept for approx. 2 weeks.
No, animals are not allowed on the marathon course.
  • in the event of unsportsmanlike or undisciplined behavior
  • unauthorized outside help, e.g. pacemaker by bicycle
  • if the start number is bent, reduced in size or covered up
  • for shortening the course
  • failure to cross the control mats on the course

Ethiopian Fikre Bekele achieved the current marathon course record in 2022 in the time of 2:06:13. With this best time, the Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon is the second fastest marathon in Austria.

The women's marathon course record was set in 2023 by Kenyan Teclah Chebet with a time of 2:27.18.

In 2015 Andrea Mayr and Anita Baierl caused a sensation by breaking the existing women's half marathon and quarter marathon records.

All competitions will be started in all weather conditions, except in case of bad weather. A refund of the entry fee due to bad weather is excluded!
In principle it is possible to cross the course as a spectator, of course you have to consider the runners. In the finish area at the main square there is no possibility to cross the running track, but of course you can also get to the desired place via other ways.
Yes, along the course, as well as in the finish area, spectators can position themselves to the right and left of the running course.
