A faithful companion of the Linz Marathon is no longer

We mourn the loss of Hans Grasser. We will miss him.

15 times Prangerschütze Hans Grasser from Perg fired the starting gun for thousands of runners with his sock at the Linz Danube Marathon. Hans had become a trademark from the very first moment of the Linz Marathon. With his Goiserer hat and matching traditional costume, he was THE eye-catcher for thousands of spectators and runners at the start line of the Linz Marathon. Thousands of runners waited eagerly for his starting signal on the Linz highway bridge, which was a tradition. On Thursday, October 27, 2016 Hans Grasser, after a long serious illness, died in his 70th year. Until the end he was faithfully connected to the Linz Marathon and even gave Linz Marathon organizer Ewald Tröbinger, who visited him a few weeks ago, tips for his successor. We will miss Hans Grasser and will always honor his memory.
