Austrian Marathon National Championships 2015

After a 10-year break, the national championship title will once again be contested in Linz.

The Board of the ÖLV (Austrian Leading Athletics Federation) has awarded the Austrian National Championships 2015 after a break of more than 10 years (Linz had this in 2004 in the marathon) the Marathon - National Championships for 2015 again to the organizing team of the BOREALIS LINZ DONAU MARATHON. The date Sunday, 19.04.2015 was confirmed. This guarantees that the best domestic long-distance runners will be at the start in Linz. Austro Kenyan favorite at the ÖMS

Edwin Kemboi was born in 1984 in the Kenyan running stronghold of Iten and has been married to LAC Klagenfurt runner Anja Prieler for a year. Kemboi has already competed several times in running events in Austria, winning the Graz Marathon in 2011. In 2014, he brought the marathon national title (and the Austrian marathon team title with Gernot Hammer and Bruno Schumi) to Carinthia in Salzburg. The LAC-Klagenfurt marathon runner was previously eligible to compete in Austrian championships based on his residency. With citizenship, he is also allowed to represent Austria in international championships. He ran his marathon best time of 2:12,58 hours in 2013 at the Rotterdam Marathon (9th place). With this time he undercut the European Championship limit by far. His other best times: Half Marathon 1:04:36 hours, 10 kilometer road race 31:09,55 minutes.
