That was the starting signal for the marathon season 2017.
Around 500 guests accepted the invitation to the Marathon Kick Off event at the Oberbank Donau Forum, on February 2, 2017. The former top runner Gerhard Hartmann led through the evening. In the various conversations with Oberbank CEO Dr. Gasselsberger, LIVA CEO Mag. Ziegler and Marathon Coordinator Ing. Mag. Lehner, the anticipation for the upcoming Linz Marathon was palpable. The guests also received important information about the innovations at the marathon. Austrian Lemawork Ketema, who comes from Ethiopia, presented his goals for 2017. He wants to reach the World Championship limit of 2:15 hours at the Linz Marathon. The following lecture by former European track champion and multiple Olympic participant Prof. Dr. med. Thomas Wessinghage was on the topic "Movement is not everything in life – but without movement everything is nothing." The traditional kick-off events have been the official starting signal for the coming running season for many years. "We are pleased that this high-quality event is so well received every year", say LIVA Marathon Coordinator Wolfgang Lehner and LIVA Board Member Thomas Ziegler.
