Main competition lets expect large starter field

Late entries still possible until Saturday, 6 pm.

The fact that the Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon also sees itself as a service marathon is shown by the fact that the organizers were still available on site in the TipsArena for last-minute late entries until shortly before the start of the main competition on Friday and Saturday. At the time of going to press and before the end of the late entry phase, the last official entry deadline was already over 18,000 participants. Today, Saturday, late entries are still possible until 6:00 pm. "It turns out that there are still many last-minute registrants. After the end of the registration period this evening, it will then be possible for us to give concrete numbers of participants. What is certain is that a huge field of running enthusiasts will once again take to the starting line in Linz. The weather also promises optimal running conditions," says Mag. Thomas Ziegler, Kaufm. Geschäftsführer LIVA & Managing Director Design Center. "The Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon is always a sporting highlight in the calendar of the many running enthusiasts. It's an event that puts Linz in the spotlight - far beyond the city's borders - and offers scope for top sporting performances. The concept for the junior marathon, which was developed two years ago, has been perfectly implemented and has proven its worth. This guarantees relaxed participation and fun at the competitions for the children. This is also shown by the many positive feedbacks and the regularly fully booked event" (Vice Mayor Karin Hörzing, Sports Officer of the City of Linz)

"The demands on the event marketing of such a large event are of course always enormous. I am therefore very proud of the ideally networked cooperation in logistics between LIVA and Design Center, which runs like clockwork. I am also very pleased that this year, in addition to a high participation in the run, we will also be able to host the Marathon National Championships in Linz. With around 185 athletes, this is a top event and can boast a 50 percent higher participation than that of 2018. Linz thus provides the second largest press info, April 13, 2019 4 state championships in the marathon that has ever taken place. Of course, we are particularly pleased about this" (Thomas Ziegler, Managing Director LIVA & Managing Director Design Center).

About the Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon

What began in 2002 with 5,000 sports enthusiasts has long since grown into Upper Austria's largest running event. With around 19,000 participants from almost 80 nations and 100,000 spectators, the Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon represents a significant economic factor and tourism magnet with thousands of overnight stays in the region every year. In addition, it was voted "Marathon of the Year" in Austria for the seventh time. The fast course - course record 2:07:33 by Alexander Kuzin (UKR) in 2007 - past the most beautiful places in the city with the spectacular start in the middle of the Voest freeway bridge in the center of Linz make the Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon a popular destination for both professional athletes and amateur sports enthusiasts, who can compete here once a year with the fastest runners in the world. Despite its enormous growth in size, participants still value the Linz Marathon as a running festival with heart and a family feeling. The organizing team attaches great importance to individually tailored service from individuals to large groups, optimal support before and during the competitions and the excellent price/performance ratio that goes with it. The Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon is AIMS certified and classified as a 5 star European Athletics Quality Road Race.
