Marathon of the year

The Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon, which will be held for the 17th time on April 15, 2018, is an ongoing success story. Every year, it attracts almost 20,000 athletes to Upper Austria's capital city, who are enthusiastically on their feet. They are cheered on by more than a hundred thousand spectators along the route.

Almost 12,000 runners took part in the big voting on marathon4you.de in 2017. Votes were cast for 218 different marathon events in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In Austria, the Linz Danube Marathon once again took first place, with the Salzburg Marathon coming in second, the 3-Länder Marathon third and the Vienna City Marathon fourth.
In the entire German-speaking region, the Linz Danube Marathon found itself in 12th place.

"After 2015 and 2016, the Linz Danube Marathon was again named the most popular city marathon in Austria in 2017 for the third time in a row, celebrating a hat trick - in Linz it's on! I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the entire marathon organization team for the well-deserved award," says Linz sports officer and vice mayor Karin Hörzing.

"The fact that we consistently find ourselves among the leaders in the poll of the most popular marathons in the German-speaking world is the result of our efforts over many years. At the same time, the award acts as a further incentive to keep improving the quality and service for the runners and our spectators," LIVA VD Thomas Ziegler and LIVA Marathon Coordinator Wolfgang Lehner are pleased with the first place. "We would like to thank all participants who have remained loyal to us for years. The Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon has become a fixed date in your running calendars," said Ziegler and Lehner.

For the 17th Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon on April 15, 2018, there are further innovations and an attractive top field on the program. There is already an enormous demand for the individual running events. The first registration deadline at the most favorable conditions is January 19, 2018.
