The next generation turned Linz into a running stage
Between cheers, children's laughter and great applause, the ÖGK Junior Marathon powered by ORF Radio OÖ was once again the centerpiece of the marathon Saturday
Cheers on the New Railway Bridge, beaming faces at the finish line and a running day that fully lived up to its reputation as the heart of Marathon Saturday: The ÖGK Junior Marathon powered by ORF Radio OÖ was once again the emotional prelude to the 24th Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon in 2026. 2,029 children were registered for the ÖGK Junior Marathon and 293 for the Special Olympics Run in optimal running conditions, the quota was already exhausted in advance. This once again turned Saturday into an atmospheric family festival of movement.
"Today has impressively shown how much positive power there is in movement together. Children should be able to experience sport with joy, self-confidence and without pressure. This is exactly what the ÖGK Junior Marathon stands for and why we support it with full conviction." (Ursula Krepp, Chairwoman of the ÖGK Regional Committee in Upper Austria)
