In Austria, the Linz Marathon remains number 1 In the annual voting on Marathon4you.de, 13,601 runners voted for the Marathon of the Year 2016. With this record participation, the most popular marathons in Austria, Germany and Switzerland were decided. The most popular city marathon of 2016 in Austria is the Linz Danube Marathon in first place ahead of Salzburg, the 3-Länder Marathon and Vienna.
The votes of 13,601 marathon participants, spread over 222 events, have been evaluated and the winners have been determined. In Austria, the Linz Danube Marathon once again takes first place, with Salzburg in second, the 3-Länder Marathon in third and Vienna in fourth. "The fact that we always find ourselves in the top field in the election of the most popular marathon is at the same time a further incentive for us and the result of our efforts over many years to constantly improve the quality and service for the runners and our spectators," LIVA VD Thomas Ziegler and LIVA Marathon Coordinator Wolfgang Lehner are pleased about the first place. "We would like to thank our participants who have been loyal to us for years and have made Linz a permanent fixture in your running calendar," said Ziegler and Lehner.
For the sixteenth Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon on April 9, 2017, there are further innovations and an attractive top field on the program. Enormous demand is already emerging for the individual running events. The next registration deadline is February 10, 2017.
