Clear the stage: 25th Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon!

Start of registration and After Work Run on Running Day pave the way for the Linz Anniversary Marathon 2027.

27.05.2026

Linz continues to break records - and opens the next chapter of a unique success story. After the most recent, completely sold-out marathon weekend, the focus is now on April 11, 2027, when the 25th Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon will mark a very special anniversary. Registration for this will start on June 3, 2026 - to coincide with International Running Day.

In recent years, the Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon has firmly established itself as one of the most important running events in the German-speaking world. More than 21,400 participants, top international performances, tens of thousands of enthusiastic spectators along the route and an emotional atmosphere in the heart of the city have once again confirmed Linz as a running metropolis in 2026. It is precisely this energy that will now be carried over into the anniversary year 2027.

The 25th Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon will be much more than just another edition of Upper Austria's biggest running event. All participants can look forward to special anniversary highlights that will not only make the 2027 marathon weekend itself an extraordinary experience, but also the route and preparation for the competitions. Details will be presented step by step over the coming months.

"The Linz Marathon has developed enormously over the past 25 years and today stands for the highest quality, a breathtaking atmosphere and a unique combination of top-class and popular sport. It is precisely this feeling that we want to bring to life even more intensively in 2027," explains Günther Weidlinger, Sports Director of the Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon.

New registration system with limited contingents

The start of registration also marks the introduction of a major innovation. From this year onwards, registration will no longer be based on traditional entry deadlines with fixed dates for the prize jumps, but on starting place quotas. This means that the earlier you register, the cheaper the starting place. Early registration is therefore more worthwhile than ever. At the same time, the organization team would like to point out that starting places are limited in all competitions. Due to the enormous demand in previous years and the fact that the 2026 competitions were already completely sold out, interest in the anniversary year is also expected to be very high.

These early bird prices apply for the individual competitions at the start of registration on June 3:

Oberbank Marathon: € 75

ORLEN Half Marathon: € 55,-

LINZ AG quarter marathon: € 45,-

Hyundai relay marathon (4 persons): € 150,-

Generali 5K: € 35,-

Fischer Brot Inline Skating Half Marathon: € 55,-

Ascendor Handbike Half Marathon: € 55,-

ÖGK Junior Marathon: free of charge

"With its wide range of events, the Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon remains a running event for the whole family. At the same time, we recommend that you secure your starting place early. Especially in the anniversary year, we expect a particularly high demand for all distances," says Kai Liczeswki, Commercial Director of LIVA. And by the way: the timekeeping partner will also change for the anniversary year. With the local provider time2win from the Salzkammergut region, the Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon will become even more regional from 2027.

Special offers for companies

In recent years, the Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon has developed into an important meeting place for companies, clubs and organizations. The focus is on exercise, motivation and shared experiences. A special focus in 2027 will therefore once again be on the company and team concept. Special starting packages will be offered for companies and clubs to bring employees to the starting line together and strengthen team spirit through sport. Anyone who also wants to be visible and tangible with their company on the marathon weekend of April 9-11, 2027 is very welcome as a partner of the Linz Danube Marathon. Linz, the running city

What has made the Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon special for 25 years now is the combination of a fast course, an emotional atmosphere and professional organization. The spectacular start on the Voestbrücke bridge, the flat course along the Danube and the finish in the heart of the city provide goosebump moments year after year. Then there are the many thousands of spectators, the music groups, the volunteers and parties along the route, which make the Linz Marathon much more than just a sporting event. #runthesteelcity!
