TODAY next entry deadline, the interest in the running spectacle is unbroken.
"We have 20 percent more entries than in the same period last year," said Wolfgang Lehner, LIVA coordinator for the Borealis Linz Danube Marathon. The 15th edition is heading for another entry record. Today, 12.2.2016 (until midnight), is the second entry deadline, where you can still register at more favorable conditions for Upper Austria's running highlight of the year.
Borealis Marathon: €60.00
Oberbank Half Marathon: €40.00
Relay Marathon: €103.00
LINZ AG Quarter Marathon: €26.00
Inline Skating Half Marathon: €40.00
Handbike Half Marathon: €40.00
Registration is possible at www.linzmarathon.at or by mail to linzmarathon@liva.linz.at. Already there are over 10,000 registrations for the respective competitions, hourly it becomes more.
"Especially the half marathon distance is booming this year," Lehner is pleased. OC head Ewald Tröbinger adds, "This event has become a brand. We're all very proud of that." For those on short notice who still want to be on their toes in Linz, it's far from too late 51 days before the starting gun. The quarter marathon is a popular start for many. But for athletic last-minute beginners who already have a certain basic level of fitness, now would be the time to get running-specific. Experts recommend running two to three times a week. The optimal running pace is easy to determine. "Conversation with a running partner should be possible without hindrance," says sports physician Alfred Fridrik.
Test in the Tips Arena
Running enthusiasts should also make a note of February 24. The latest running shoe models can be tested from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Tips Arena in Linz, where professional advice is also available.
