On September 13, 2025, Daniele Gatti and the Staatskapelle Dresden will present Gustav Mahler's Fifth Symphony and Tōru Takemitsu's Requiem for String Orchestra as part of the International Brucknerfest Linz 2025.

Mahler's Fifth, an important work of the late Romantic period, is considered a turning point in the composer's oeuvre - characterized by personal crisis, stylistic reorientation and emotional depth. The fourth movement, the Adagietto, which Luchino Visconti used in his film adaptation of Thomas Mann's novella Death in Venice (1971), became particularly famous. - Tōru Takemitsu's Requiem for string orchestra, which will also be performed, marked the Japanese composer's international breakthrough and combines influences from the Western avant-garde with elements of traditional Japanese music.
